Our Philosophy

Our Classes are taught with positive reinforcement, praise, and showing the dog how to be successful. We do not believe in forceful negative corrections that overwhelm and confuse the dog.

Positive Dog Training, opened in 1986, has seen more than 20,000 dogs, of all breeds. Many students often return with second and even third dogs, renewing old friendships and enjoying more training with their Canine Friends.

The school's goal for all students is to have a dog that is FUN to do things with. Whether it is formal obedience trials or family events, dog training should be a HAPPY experience for handler and dog alike.

Good dog training classes don't just happen, they are the product of enthusiastic instructors possessing a broad base of experience with dogs. We know that each dog is unique, has it's own way of learning, it's own problems and needs. We strive to bring out the BEST in every dog!

Heated indoor training facility
For all dogs aged 3 months and up
Pure bred and mixed breeds welcome
Most classes meet 1 hour per week for 6 weeks
Daytime. evening and weekend classes
Beginning through advanced levels
Obedience and specialized classes
Preparation for AKC, CKC, UKC obedience titles
We do not use choke chain collars in classes, abusive methods or intimidation to train dogs.
Visitors are welcome to observe classes at any time!

Positive Dog Training students and staff have earned hundreds of titles! Our various instructors have had experience in Obedience Trials, Tracking Tests, Conformation Championships, and events for Field, Herding, Lure Coursing, Agility, Rally, Therapy Dog Certification and Freestyle.
